D.C., Washington, United States (AHN Entertainment) – George Clooney’s father veteran journalist Nick Clooney has been hospitalized.

The 77-year-old Clooney is being treated in Washington, D.C. Wednesday after he fell it while preparing to host a “Reel Journalism” movie program at the Newseum, a museum dedicated to journalism around the world, reports The Cincinnati Enquirer.

“He had a bad headache. They thought it was a bad migrane. They’re just checking him out,” his daughter, Ada Zeidler, said Wed

The newspaper reported that doctors decided to keep him overnight for observation and believe he is suffering from exhaustion.

“They’re running tests to determine what it is, and when they determine what it is, his son George will make an announcement to the media,” said Judi LaFreniere, Montgomery Town Hall lecture series chairwoman. Nick Clooney was to speak Wednesday and Thursday in Cincinnati as part of that lecture series.

Clooney, author of “The Movies That Changed Us: Reflections on the Screen” and a former TV anchorman and newspaper columnist, has hosted the Newseum movie series for three years.

It is not clear yet when Clooney will be released from the hospital.

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) – It’s “Boardwalk Empire” star Paz de la Huerta versus “The City” and its former star Samantha Swetra. Swetra has officially filed a lawsuit against Paz following their headline-grabbing fight.

Swetra said that Paz punched her and then hit her in the leg with a drinking glass during a party at New York’s Standard Hotel last month. The lawsuit describes it as having been “assaulted, beaten and battered.”

According to TMZ, Swetra says she’s suffered severe physical and emotion injuries, “some of which injuries are permanent in nature.”

The lawsuit doesn’t go into detail as to the injuries, but sources close to the reality star say they include swelling, pain in her nose, and trouble breathing.

She is suing for unspecified damages. Meanwhile, the HBO star appeared in criminal court earlier this week where she was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, attempted assault and harassment.

Paz de la Huerta is due back in court May 19th.

Oprah asking $1 million per 30-second spot on show finale

April 13, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Anne Lu – Celebrity News Service Contributor

Chicago, IL, United States (AHN Entertainment) – When queen of daytime talk shows Oprah Winfrey makes her final bow in May, advertisers are naturally clamoring to secure a commercial spot during the episode. But it’s not easy to do so, “The Oprah Winfrey Show” is asking $1 million for a 30-second commercial spot for those interested and willing to pay.

The staggering amount is nearly 18 times more than the show’s usual asking price of $57,400, as reported by Nielsen earlier in the season, via RadarOnline.com.

The daytime talk show’s last original episode will air on May 25, but it will continue to air reruns until Sept. 9.

While $1 million is not anywhere near cheap, it is still not the most expensive ad spot on TV. The last Superbowl asked advertisers for $3 million for a 30-second spot, while the successful sitcom “Friends” had a $2 million price tag.

The finale of “Seinfeld” in 1998 cost advertisers $1.4 million for a 30-second commercial, while the finale for “Everybody Loves Raymond” charged $1.2 million.

Damian Grass – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have launched an anti-sex trade video as part of their campaign against slavery and human trafficking.

Kutcher and Moore released a series of online video clips Monday with the slogan “Real Men Don’t Buy Girls” to raise awareness, reports USA Today.

“Modern-day slavery is such a complicated issue, but we’re trying to do what we can to make men think twice before they engage in this,” says Moore. “The message to the guys is, t, which also features Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper, Jaime Foxx and Justin Timberlake, among others, is part of the couple’s nonprofit organization called The Demi and Ashton Foundation (DNA).

According to the organization’s website, almost 300,000 children are enslaved and sold for sex in the United States alone. The entire industry generates $39 billion annually around the world.

Kutchers said he hopes the videos and its message goes viral and insists the ongoing campaign is not a career move.

“Our doing this is not some sort of career strategy thing,” Kutcher said. “In fact, I’d probably be doing a lot better in my career if I focused a little more on that and less on this stuff.”

Matt Lauer asking for $25 million “Today” contract

April 8, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Anne Lu – Celebrity News Service Contributor

New York, NY, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Matt Lauer is after a major salary raise on “The Today Show.” The longtime early morning show host is reportedly not that serious in leaving the NBC program because he is negotiating with the peacock network to get a massive $25 million payday.

Lauer is reportedly leaving the show when his contract expires on December 31 next year. He has been with the program since 1997.

But his alleged upcoming exit is nothing but a well-timed negotiation ploy, according to TMZ sources. The buzz about his exit started a day after reports surfaced that co-host Meredith Vieira will leave the show, and her reported $11 million annual salary, when her contract expires in September.

Lauer’s team feels that now is the best time to ask for a raise since it’s unlikely NBC can afford to have two major hosts leave the show.

He is said to be asking $25 million annually, a big increase from his $17 million contract.

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves take turns as chef at home

March 19, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Damian Grass – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Step aside, Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart. Matthew McConaughey wants to be a cookbook author.

The actor says he and his girlfriend Camila Alves, who both have two children, Levi, two, and 14-month-old daughter Vida, have a swell time trying out new recipes at home and rarely go out to eat.

“We’ve got a whole bunch of things to fill up a cookbook right now,” the 41-year-old actor joked with Popeater.com.

McConaughey, who plays a slick Los Angeles criminal defense attorney in the film “The Lincoln Lawyer,” with Ryan Phillipe and Academy Award-winner Marisa Tomei, said he and his family have more fun in their kitchen than going out for meals.

“Cooking is one of the main things we do. One-and-a-half-hours to two-hours a day. We eat out like once every two months because we cook.

“It’s really great family time from six to eight. Glass of wine and we start mixing up sauces and trying new things. See what we can pull off and we swap, sometimes I’m the cook, sometimes Camila is the cook,” he said.

But when it gets a little too hot in the kitchen, the actor said he hops into his car for a little “me” time.

“When I’m driving, that’s my favorite place to think. Or not think.

“I like to put myself in a place where the answers sort of show up and my favorite place is behind a wheel, heading somewhere.”

“The Lincoln Lawyer” opens in theaters on Friday, March 18.

Madonna’s stalker arrested for breaking into her London home

March 15, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Damian Grass – Celebrity News Service Reporter

London, England, United Kingdom (CNS) – A man is behind bars after trying to break into pop singer Madonna’s mansion in London.

Police say 29-year-old Grzegorz Matlok was wrestled to the ground by bodyguards on Saturday while still clutching to several of the singer’s possessions, according to Contactmusic.

Bodyguards at the home told police that the man was a stalker who gained entry to the lavish townhouse by smashing a side window.

At the time of the break-in, Madonna and her children were reportedly in her hometown of Bay City, Michigan attending the funeral of her grandmother.

A senior police source told The Sun newspaper:

“Something dreadful has happened here,” a senior police source told The Sun newspaper. “The security around the world’s most famous pop star should be impregnable.”

This isn’t the first time the singer has been terrorized by a stalker.

Last September, a man was charged with criminal mischief, graffiti and being in a possession of a homemade ice pick, after writing messages to Madonna on the pavement outside her Upper West Side apartment in New York City.

Robert Linhart, a retired fire fighter, carved: “Meet me please, tell me yes or no, and if it’s yes, my dream will come true. If it’s no, I will go.”

According to court documents, he reportedly told officers: “I have a right to do this. I am not doing anything wrong. I keep running into Madonna. I saw her in 1992 and I’d actually like to meet her in person. I won’t stop until I actually meet Madonna.

“I’m going to go right back there and do it again.”

Colombian singer Juanes kicks off American tour in Seattle; visits with eighth graders

March 11, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Damian Grass – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Seattle, WA, United States (CNS) – With the success of his fifth studio album “P.A.R.C.E.,” Colombian singer Juanes is getting ready kick off his tour in Seattle. But the singer took a break from rehearsals to meet with eighth graders.

The 18-time Grammy-winner surprised students and teachers at Washington Middle School on Thursday.

“We spent a while at Washington Middle School in Seattle, singing “Suenos” and “Damelo” in eighth grade Spanish class!”, Juanes posted in Spanish on Twitter.

Soon after, the singer posted another tweet saying, “They were young children from all race, American, Asian, Latins, Hispanics, Hindus speaking Spanish! Singing in Spanish!”

The 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Juan Esteban Aristizabal Vasquez, will perform in Las Vegas, Denver, Albuquerque, Illinois, New York City and Miami, before wrapping up in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 16.

Juanes was originally set to perform in Miami on April 15, but postponed his concert for a later date.

A Miami newspaper had suggested that the reason for the postponement was because the singer had received negative feedback about the selection of the date, which it falls on the 50th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs invasion.

Juanes later denied the claims.

The date is significant to South Florida’s Cuban community, which is when Cuban exiles launched an attempt to overthrow the island nation’s ruler, Fidel Castro, in 1961.

The effort led to the death of more than 100 exiles and more than 1,000 were imprisoned. Many of them were executed by the Cuban government.

In 2009, Juanes sparked furor among Miami’s exile community when the singer hosted a free concert in Havana called Peace Without Borders.
