Plane carrying First Lady, Dr. Biden escapes major mishap

April 20, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Tejinder Singh – AHN News Correspondent

Washington, DC, United States (AHN) – A Boeing 737 from the fleet of presidential passenger jets carrying the First and Second Ladies aborted a landing on Monday to narrowly avoid a 200-ton military cargo jet on the runway of Andrews Air Force Base, according to reports.

The jet was carrying First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, who were returning from an appearance on ABC’s “The View” in New York, when the aircraft was forced to circle the airport.

Confirming the reports, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a statement late Tuesday saying, “FAA controllers at Andrews Air Force Base instructed an incoming Boeing 737 on approach to Runway 19 to perform a ‘go around’ on Monday, April 18, 2011, just after 5 p.m. because the plane did not have the required amount of separation behind a military C17.”

The FAA’s statement didn’t address the role of air traffic controllers in the mishap although according to reliable sources the controllers gave the go-ahead to land even when the distance between the planes was less than five miles. The agency requires a separation of five miles between planes at that lower altitude because turbulence off of the wings can be dangerous to following planes.

Announcing that it was “investigating the incident,” the FAA statement noted, “The Boeing 737 landed safely after executing the go around. The aircraft were never in any danger.”

The White House did not comment on the incident.

German father sentenced to six years in jail for castrating daugther’s lover

April 16, 2011 by Real Estate Investor Comments Off
Ayinde O. Chase – AHN News Editor

Bielefeld, Germany (AHN) – A German father was sentenced to six years in jail for castrating the 58-year-old man who seduced his school age daughter and then slept with her for six months.

According to court documents the victim who has five children and nine grandchildren, must now take hormone supplements for the rest of his life to maintain normal levels and not start developing female traits.

Helmut Seifert, the girl’s 48-year-old father was convicted of serious assault and also ordered to pay financial restitution of $116,000.

“You did something incredibly cruel,” Judge George Zimmermann said.

In November when the father learned his 17-year-old daughter had a lover nearly three times her age he became incensed.

Seifert tried to get police to intervene and end the romance but they refused. So he and two friends found the man, Phillip Genscher in his apartment, stripped of his clothes then bound and gagged him before cutting off his testicles. They then called an ambulance to pick up the victim.

Genscher narrowly avoided bleeding to death.

“I was only trying to protect my child,” said the defendant, who is a cleaner. “I’m sorry. I over-reacted.”

What made the case even more shocking was the fact the victim was the grandfather of the girl’s best friend in school. Reportedly she used to call him “Grandpa.”

The victim contends he was in love with the teen and she was the reason why he ended his 36-year marriage.

The victim insisted he had been in love with her, and had ended his marriage of 36 years to be with her.

The judge however wasn’t impressed and said he had been living in a “fantasy world” and his affair with the girl had been a “dead-end street.”
